0 Full-time 20 hours ago Full Job Description Kings County Public Health Department is seeking a candidate interested in inspiring innovation, teamwork, and assisting in community development, organization, and achievement of health education goals.
One immediate vacancy in the Kings County Public Health Department.
Future vacancies for this position may be filled from the eligible list to be established.
The expected life of the eligible list is six months.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS The Health Educator classification series is utilized in the Health Department, assigned to one or more programs in the Nursing Division.
Health Educator differs from Senior Health Educator in that the latter is assigned primary responsibility for the development and administration of one or more health education programs and requires performance of more sophisticated health education activities.
Incumbents report to the director of the program(s) to which assigned and are responsible for assisting in the implementation of health promotional activities.
DUTY SAMPLE Duties include but are not limited to those described below.

Assists in developing, organizing, implementing and evaluating health promotional activities; assists in studies of health education needs and resources, and the effectiveness of health education methods, techniques and materials; establishes cooperative relationships and confers with community groups, agencies and individuals in developing and presenting health promotion programs and activities; assists in development and review of health promotion materials including pamphlets, books, videos, etc.
; addresses various community groups concerning matters pertinent to health education; prepares public information material including reports, bulletins and news releases; assists in the planning of and participates in workshops, seminars and discussion groups; assists in the development of in-service training programs for staff and community organizations; maintains statistical information and prepares reports, correspondence and special projects; may supervise the activities of staff or volunteers engaged in health promotion activities.

A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Education:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in public health, community health education, psychology or a closely related field.
(Qualifying experience as a health educator including needs assessment determination and development and presentation of educational information and materials may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years.
)
Experience:
A minimum of six months of general education or outreach experience for a public agency or private organization, preferably including providing outreach and education to specific target populations.
License:
Possession of a valid, appropriate California driver's license at the time of appointment.
Special Requirement:
Ability to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends.
Ability to travel for work-related seminars and workshops.
Desirable
Qualifications:
Bilingual fluency (English/Spanish) preferred.
A master's degree in a related field and Certification as a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc.
(NCHEC) are desired.
PC computer experience and familiarity with Microsoft Office software products are also desirable.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
