Positions may be filled at either the entry level I or the experienced level II, depending upon qualifications.
Positions may rotate throughout the County including Avenal, Corcoran and Lemoore, and reporting work site could change.
Future vacancies may be filled from the eligible list to be established.
The typical life of a list is six months.
SALARY Level I:
$18.
54 - $22.
62 Hourly, $38,563.
20 - $47,049.
60 Annually Level II:
$20.

99 Hourly, $42,598.

20 Annually DUTY SAMPLE Perform interactive interviews to elicit eligibility information and identify need for public assistance programs and services.
Conducts such interviews in the County welfare office, satellite offices, hospitals, and other locations.
Analyze financial and eligibility information to determine initial or continuing eligibility for multiple aid programs; explain regulations, rules, and policies to clients and apprise them of their rights, responsibilities and eligibility for participation; ensure accuracy and completion of application and declaration forms; resolve discrepancies by securing documentation, medical records and confirmation from other agencies; initiate a total-household assistance case; enter and retrieve numerical and narrative data, and issue benefits from an automated computer system; read and interpret computer printouts and information on computer screens; prepare correspondence and reports; organize caseload so that necessary case records and documents are processed and updated within specific time limits established by regulation and local policy; may assist in the administration of employment programs.

A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
LEVEL I:
Education:
Completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter units of college.
OR
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience performing clerical duties.
Experience must include substantial public contact with clients and basic interviewing for the purpose of gathering information and explaining policies or clarifying information needed.
OR
Experience:
One (1) year of experience with responsibility for one or more of the following:
determining eligibility for loans, financial assistance, unemployment, veterans benefits, or publicly or privately financed health counseling and/or social services programs.
LEVEL II:
Experience:
One year of experience performing the duties of an Eligibility Worker I in Kings County; or, one year of employment experience in any California welfare department in the C-IV system performing duties equivalent to those of an Eligibility Worker I in Kings County.
BOTH LEVELS:
License:
Possession of a valid appropriate California driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
